n-Tec

Brief description of the organisation:

n-Tec (http://www.n-tec.no) is a company incorporated in 2001 as a subsidiary of Scatec, a Norwegian incubator for renewable energy and advanced materials.

Since 2005, n-Tec has been producing multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) based on the specifications and guidance of Professor Thomas Ebbesen, a carbon nanotube pioneer.

The company has developed a scalable and automated process to mass produce arc-discharge MWNT. These are different from the commonly made CVD nanotubes which contain metal catalysts and are mechanically weaker.

n-Tec also holds key patents for the large scale production of carbon cones and discs that are a different allotrope of carbon.

n-Tec has patent applications or worldwide exclusive and royalty free licenses for the use of MWNTs and carbon cones

The company aims to become an international mass producer of carbon nanomaterials of high quality, and is working in close cooperation with some of the world’s leading scientists and industrial companies.
